Update on Pulak's book
Many of you have seen wildly fluctuating prices on Amazon & some have complained about receiving delayed or sub-standard books. Here's the update on the ultimate cause behind all those problems (TLDR: piracy).
Also, included are names of authentic sellers.
Hi Anand,
I came across Pulak's book titled "What I learned about investing from Darwin'" on Amazon and bought a copy for myself. In addition I found a workbook for the Pulak's book and it was authored by Evelyn M Averett which I received today. Went through it and found that it was written by an amateur and I didnt see any consent or permission given by Pulak to Evelyn in this workbook. I wrote a a letter under the book review section and hopefully Amazon.com Services will respond to my comment reproduced below for Pulak's attention.Â
"Hi, this workbook by Evelyn M Averett is based upon the original book by Pulak Prasad "What I learned about Investing from Darwin". It would be considered a derivative work of the original book, and thus would be copyright infringement given that its published and sold in Amazon. No credits or permission has been obtained from Mr Pulak Prasad. The workbook list out a series of questions based on the application of techniques promulgated in "What I learned about Investing from Darwin" by Pulak Prasad. Â That's not "criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching (including multiple copies for classroom use), scholarship, or research," which are delineated in the Act as acceptable purposes for fair use. What Evelyn M Averett is really doing is extending the Investment Book Title product line. She has not interpreted it, commented on it, etc. She is using the original concepts and providing templates to apply them, which are rights reserved to the original author, Mr Pulak Prasad. Please clarify."
I would be grateful if you would let PP know about it.
Thanks and kind regards,
